StepFreely custom orthotics are designed from a foam impression of your actual foot. Every pair is handcrafted in the USA using professional-grade materials built to last over 3 years of daily wear.
🎯
Made From Your Foot Impression
Unlike over-the-counter insoles, every StepFreely orthotic starts with a foam impression you make at home. Your exact arch shape, heel width, and pressure points are captured and used to craft your pair.
🇺🇸
Handcrafted in the USA
Every pair is handcrafted by our team with over 25 years of orthotic experience. No overseas manufacturing, no automated assembly line - real hands, real craft, real results.
⚕️
Premium Grade Materials
We use premium layered materials designed for long-term daily wear. The deep heel cup stabilizes your heel, the arch layer supports your natural foot structure, and the top fabric provides lasting comfort.
⌛
3+ Year Lifespan
Drugstore insoles compress and lose support within weeks. StepFreely orthotics maintain their support for over 3 years of daily use - a fraction of the long-term cost of replaceable insoles.
🏥
Fraction of Clinic Prices
Custom orthotics from a podiatrist can cost $400-$800. StepFreely delivers the same clinical-quality product directly to your door - no waiting rooms, no inflated pricing.
📦
Free Kit Shipping
Your impression kit ships free with a prepaid return label included so you can send it back at no cost.
Foot Health
Common Foot Conditions and What They Mean
Understanding your foot pain is the first step to relieving it. Here are the most common conditions custom orthotics help address - along with their symptoms and what is actually happening inside your foot.
🦷
Plantar Fasciitis
Most Common
Inflammation of the plantar fascia - the thick band of tissue running along the bottom of your foot. Most often causes sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning.
Sharp heel painWorse in morningPain after standingHeel tenderness
🔻
Flat Feet / Overpronation
Very Common
When the arches collapse and the entire sole touches the ground. Causes the foot to roll inward excessively when walking, placing stress on the ankle, knee, and hip over time.

⬆️
High Arches / Supination
Common
An excessively high arch that does not absorb shock well. Supination causes the foot to roll outward during movement, leading to instability and stress on the outer foot.
Outer foot painAnkle instabilityCalluses on outer edgeAnkle sprains
🎯
Metatarsalgia
Common
Pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot. Often described as feeling like walking on a pebble. Common in people who spend long hours on their feet or do high-impact activities.

🦴
Heel Spurs
Common
Calcium deposits that form a bony protrusion on the heel bone. Often develop alongside plantar fasciitis. The surrounding inflammation is what causes most of the discomfort.

Achilles Tendinitis
Common
Inflammation of the Achilles tendon connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone. Proper arch support reduces strain on the Achilles by correcting foot alignment at the source.

🔵
Morton's Neuroma
Less Common
A thickening of tissue around the nerve between the third and fourth toes. Causes burning pain or numbness in the ball of the foot. Orthotics redistribute pressure away from the affected nerve.

General Foot Fatigue
Universal
Aching, tired feet from prolonged standing or walking. Especially common in nurses, teachers, and retail workers. Without proper support, muscles and tendons work overtime to compensate for poor alignment.

Video Guide
How to Use Your Impression Kit
Watch our step-by-step tutorial showing exactly how to make your foot impressions at home for the best possible fit. A clean, accurate impression means a better fitting orthotic.
📦
Step 1 - Receive Your Impression Kit
Your impression kit arrives within 2-3 business days with everything you need to get started.
📋
Step 2 - Get Set Up
Remove your socks and shoes - impressions are always done barefoot for the most accurate fit. Place your kit flat on a hard, level floor. Stand upright and hold a sturdy chair for balance. If starting with your right foot, position the chair on your left side and line your foot up with the correct side of the kit.
🦷
Step 3 - Make Your First Impression
Hold the chair and press your heel into the foam first, then gently push the rest of your foot down until your toes are fully inside. Apply even pressure and keep your foot straight. When finished, lift your foot straight up to preserve the impression.
⬆️
Step 4 - Repeat for the Second Foot
Follow the same process for your other foot to ensure both impressions are accurate.
✅
Step 5 - Send the Kit Back
Secure the molds in the kit, apply the prepaid return label, and send it back to us.

Break-In Guide
How to Break In Your Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotics work differently than off-the-shelf insoles. Your feet need time to adjust to proper alignment. Following the break-in schedule is the most important thing you can do to get the best results.
Day 1
1 Hour of Wear
Start with just one hour. Your feet are adapting to new alignment and support they have not experienced before. Some mild arch discomfort is completely normal.
Day 2
2 Hours of Wear
Add one hour each day. Your muscles and tendons are gradually adjusting to the corrected position. Do not skip ahead - rushing break-in is the most common cause of discomfort.
Day 3
3 Hours of Wear
By day three most people start noticing reduced fatigue and more stable footing. Keep going at this pace.
Days 4-7
Add One Hour Each Day
Continue the plus one hour per day progression. If you experience significant discomfort on any day simply drop back to the previous day and try again the next day.
Week 2 Onwards
Full Day Wear
By the start of week two most people wear their orthotics comfortably all day. This is when you experience the full benefit of proper custom support.
2-4 Weeks
Full Results
Most customers report significant improvement in foot pain, fatigue, and comfort within 2-4 weeks of consistent daily wear. Give your orthotics the time they need.
Important - When to Be ConcernedMild soreness and arch fatigue during break-in is normal. However if you experience sharp or worsening pain that does not improve after reducing wear time, contact us at nick@stepfreely.com and we will assess whether a remake is needed under our 90-day free remake policy.
Our Promise
You Are Fully Protected
We stand behind every pair we make. If you are not happy for any reason we will make it right - no questions asked.
Everything else you might want to know before ordering.
How are StepFreely orthotics different from drugstore insoles? ⌄
Drugstore insoles are made for an average foot - which means they do not truly fit anyone. StepFreely orthotics are built from a foam impression of your specific foot, capturing your exact arch shape, heel width, and pressure points. The result is support that works with your foot instead of against it.
How long does the whole process take? ⌄
Your impression kit ships within 1-2 business days. Once we receive your completed kit, your orthotics are handcrafted and delivered within 14-21 business days. Total time from order to delivery is typically 3-4 weeks.
What if my orthotics do not fit right? ⌄
Every pair comes with a 90-day free remake policy. If the fit is not right for any reason, contact us and we will remake your pair at no cost. We also offer a 30-day full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.
What shoes can I use them in? ⌄
StepFreely orthotics fit in most closed-toe footwear including athletic shoes, casual sneakers, work boots, and walking shoes. Remove any existing removable insoles before inserting. Not designed for flip flops, sandals, or very narrow dress shoes.
How long do they last? ⌄
StepFreely orthotics are built from professional-grade materials designed to maintain their support for 3 or more years of daily wear. Unlike drugstore insoles that compress within weeks, your custom pair is built to last.
Can I use one pair in multiple shoes? ⌄
Yes - you can transfer your orthotics between shoes as needed. Many customers order a second pair so they always have one in their everyday shoes and one in their work or athletic footwear. Our 2-pair bundle saves $80.
